When She Smiles

This was a commission for Mother's Day completed back in March. The Collector had a pastel portrait of himself as a child and when his kids were small had portraits of them rendered as well.

He's seen his wife look longingly at the 3 portraits and struck upon the idea to have one painted of her daughter and he'd reveal it on the big day by simply replacing his portrait with the new one and seeing long it would take for her to notice

It didn't take long, and she was so happy she cried. A screenshot of her social media post as shared with me.
