Am not sure the close up picture does this one justice so will include a shot of the 5 recent minis.

I developed insomnia throughout the pandemic getting by with only 2-4 hours of sleep a night for weeks on end till my body would literally shut down and I'd sleep 9-10 hours straight, only to cycle back to the  2-4 hour wagon. I tried to make the best of the extra hours in the day and used many of those wee hours in the morning to paint.

Needless to say I saw many a moon while out with my dog between midnight -2am.  There's a gentle peace that settles in when most of the world is asleep. I love how the sky develops an inky darkness that waivers from tartan green to deep navy to rich purple depending on atmospherics. I made wishes on shooting stars, followed satellites across the horizon and watched intently as stars twinkled their full spectrum of colors.

Over the course of this spring & summer I'm now back to my pre-pandemic usual of 6 hours of sleep, with only an occasional night where I'm wide awake till 1-2 am. So when it happens, I welcome the extra time like a visit from am old friend who arrives One Minute til Midnight.
